CHAT SUPPORT

Please use this thread for any support for the installed chat. At this time, there is a chat link that will show you who is online chatting. At the bottom where it shows "Who's Online", anyone with * next to their name is currently in chat.

When you click on the chat, a popup box with the program should occur. Please note, I am not sure how popup blockers are going to handle this function call. Rest assured, unlike many other sites, any popup windows that come from my site are for site use ONLY. There are no popup for ads or the like, so it is safe to add madd74.com to your safe list.

Please note, in order for this chat to properly work, you MUST allow JavaScript. If you do not, I am unsure how the chat will work. Also, you must allow madd74.com to put cookies on your computer. People who are set to automatically logon when they visit the forum will automatically be logged into chat when they go to the site. At this point, it is my understanding that if you are logged in the board, and cookies are on, you should automatically be logged into chat.

At this time, the chat has a few

ummm - there is not a chat support thread, so here is my issue:

I went to the chat via the link you provided in your post, and even though there was no one there, I typed out some messages (in case you logged back in or something) - and I got the same error that I got before when you were testing it out and had me on there.
Error: Connection status: 500

:(

Well, if you check the following post, you will see that you are simply a little too fast. My support post was much longer than your support request :) There was a thread being made. The connection status error you are getting is most likely coming from client as opposed to server (meaning your internet connection).

I did not get a pop-up box for it. my whole web page/window/whatever was re-directed to it. Didn't even open in a new tab. The sound lagged a little.

But you did not respond to my issue of the 500 Error! It is the same one I got when you were testing it. Is your chat not compatible with Firefox???

It works fine in my Firefox. You can set Firefox to handle popup requests in different ways, so in your case I can look at your computer to see what the deal is. As for not answering your original question, I actually did:

The trouble we have with other sites and such? It is most likely the same thing.

I am not sure if I understand, but I don't click a box to go to chat, it's at the bottom of the page.

The bottom of the page is not actually a chat. It is a shoutbox. You can post to it, and it will put your message in the box as well as the chat. The chat "autorefreshes", similar to an actual chat page. The box only shows comments. You will see it but not others. Also, if two people are chatting away in the chat (found in the upper right hand corner near FAQ, Members, and Logout [user]), it will show only so much of that in the box.

I stand corrected, the shoutbox does appear to autorefresh when you are actually in a chat.

PARSE ERROR

PostPosted: Fri Dec 14, 2007 23:13:06
by madd74
Some people (mainly IE users) may get a parsing error when attempting to open up a chat window. I have determined this is caused due to IE, and the root cause from the line error is a trouble translating the language file supporting some of the other languages available with the chat. I believe if I disable some of the other languages, this should correct the problem. Who speak German anyway? :D

(Sewcute, I do believe Spanish and French will not cause this problem, so for now, I will leave those)
